SUNJAY FOR 13TH DISTRICT STATE REP
I am a community organizer, a proud queer Indian American, and an Uptown resident and homeowner. I’m running for State Representative in the 13th District because I love our neighborhoods—their queerness, their history of welcoming migrants, their civic life, and their connectedness.
As an organizer, I know that we can build power and achieve enormous change by connecting with people, learning their stories, and building broad coalitions across race, class, and language. I’m running to bring that organizing spirit to the General Assembly.
TO MY NEIGHBORS
This community has been a safe haven for me and so many others. As we face growing threats from the federal government, we need bold progressive voices to fight for what makes our neighborhoods so special. We must defend and strengthen protections for immigrant communities, trans neighbors, and reproductive freedom.
We also have a lot of work to do to make our neighborhoods more accessible, more affordable, and safer for everyone—from longtime residents to new neighbors. We can do this by robustly funding our public transit system, tackling the crisis of housing costs, and ensuring quality education and public safety for all.
